New Delhi, India: The Indian Railways has released a significant tender inviting bids for the electrification of various railway lines across the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. This ambitious project is part of the Indian Railways’ broader goal to achieve 100% electrification of its network by 2025. The project will cover approximately 2,000 kilometers of rail tracks, with a focus on enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
The scope of work includes the installation of overhead electric lines, substations, and other necessary infrastructure. Interested contractors must demonstrate experience in large-scale electrification projects and have a proven track record in timely delivery. The estimated project cost is around ₹1,500 crores, and the submission deadline for the tender is 25th September 2025. This project is expected to significantly reduce the Indian Railways’ dependence on diesel, leading to substantial savings and environmental benefits.
